Jack Campbell, who will be USA Hockey's starting goaltender for the third year in a row at the World Junior Championships later this month, just unveiled his new beauty of a mask on Twitter. Give it a look, I dare you to contain your swelling American pride:
I don't know about you, but I'm taking the rest of the day off, grabbing a bottle of Jack and watching Rocky IV, Team America: World Police and Red Dawn in succession. Then I'll top it off with some McDonald's and a taping of the 2010 WJC Gold Medal Game.
You remember that game, right? I know Canada does. It's the one where Campbell came in relief and led the Americans to a stunning 6-5 overtime victory on Canadian soil thanks to John "American Hero" Carlson's short-side wrister that beat Martin Jones and gave the US its second WJC Gold Medal and first since 2004, when they also beat Canada.
This year's tournament will also be on Canuck turf, in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta from December 26 through January 2. For all those of you planning out your New Year's Eve, be advised Captain America and his crew take on the Canadians at 7 p.m. EST. So, uh, looks like we'll all be celebrating before the ball drops this year.
